Structure Diagrams
Structure Diagram 1
Here you can see eight main pages of my application as it also includes external links.

Structure Diagram 2
The second structure diagram includes more details about the application such as links, video and quit button.
I did the diagrams in a Word Document using shapes. Then, I printed screen the diagram's layout in the Word document and adjusted it in Photoshop.

Layout Of The First Page
Home Page
When the user clicks on the logo icon, a page with a short introduction about the Brecon Beacons opens. The colour of the logo changes when the mouse is over it.
Introduction Page
Short Introduction About The Brecon Beacons National Park
When the user clicks on the title of this page, the third page opens. It begins with a video of Brecon Beacons panorama. The vertical position of the title slightly changes when the mouse is over it.
The Video Of The Third Page
Main Page
After a few seconds, the menu of the third page appears.
Menu Of The Third Page

When the user clicks on the history button, the video stops and the history information about the Brecon Beacons appears. When the mouse is over the History, Attractions, Activities or Events buttons, a branch appears as a sign that the button contains some information. The information is presented as a scrolling text.
History Page

Attractions Page

Attractions button contains images and information about different attractions in the Brecon Beacons such as castles, waterfalls and mountains. It also incorporates back and forward arrows in order to change the information. The arrows appear when the mouse is over the window which contains particular information.
Activities Page

Activities button contains images of different Brecon Beacons activities which use the same navigation bar (back and forward arrows) as Attractions content.
Events Page

Events button contains a scrolling text of the Brecon Beacons event.

I used an Arial for the paragraph texts because this kind of typefaces is simple and highly legible on screen. I used Regular style of Arial 14 pt. For the headings I used Myriad Pro font which is a humanist  sans-serif typeface. Humanist typefaces relate to the earlier hand written monumental Roman capitals. In 43AD, Roman settled the Wales and they had bases in the Brecon Beacons National Park. This way, I decided to connect Myriad Pro font to my application.

If the user wants to go back to the second Introduction Page, he/she can click on the Brecon Beacons title. When the mouse is over the title, its branch changes the colour. The other sign for most of my active buttons is a hand icon.

History, Attractions and Events pages include external links which give more information about the subject.

In my work I incorporated technology such as Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Director, Lingo script, Final Cut Pro and YouTube Downloader.

I used widescreen resolution 1024x576 for my application as computer monitors with a wide screen became commonly available.

Production process:
 1.     Learn – The most important part of the production process is discovering and understanding what technology to use for building interactive product according to the scope and goals of the project (client needs, target audience, content, publishing format, visual style). Considering ethical and legal issues such as copyright, confidentially, privacy, libel and decency
2.      Plan – The first step will act as a foundation of the planning step which includes researching, note taking, layout sketching, storyboarding, mood boards, and brainstorming
3.      Design - Creating assets for an interactive product such as text, sound, video, images and vector graphics
4.      Production/Testing – Creating an interactive product using an authoring tool and the relevant script as well as incorporating the assets. Testing includes improvements and modifications of the product.
5.      Launch/Publish – The developer uses file transfer protocol (FTP) in most cases to connect to the remote web server and upload the website from a local folder to make the page publicly accessible; or distribute the final product on a CD ROM or DVD ROM; or publish it on a TV.
6.      Maintain - During the planning process, the web developer should be in charge who will maintain the website

I was tasked to research, design and create an interactive prototype that explores the place where I live. My application explores the Brecon Beacons Nation Park, which is one of the three national parks in Wales. It introduces to the visitors in an engaging way the history, attraction, activities and events of the park.

The target audience of my application is families, tourists, local people and people who like sporting. The park offers a wide variety of events, attractions and activities, which can attract different kinds of groups, job types and genders.

People will interact with my application trough links, text, buttons and images. I am going to attract attention of the target audience using a wide variety of assets, which are pieced together in an engaging way. Interactivity of my application also makes it attractive as it enjoys the users whilst they are going through the information of my application.

On of my examples of existing interactive products is a Waterlife Flash website which explores a documentary film of the same name. If you click on the “WATER IS POISON” from the main menu, a web page layout similar to mine will appear. It contains a video of a Beluga on a background of the page and information related to this video. This way, the page becomes more attractive to the user as he/she can not only read but also see the subject (Beluga) of the text.

In my research I found several marketing methods such as viral, direct, relationship, guerrilla, and positioning. Viral marketing method relies on people to promote their product, idea or service by telling their friends or by email. Direct marketing method relies on a direct selling of products or services by mail order or telephone selling rather than trough retailer. Relationship marketing strategy focuses on a strong relationship with its costumers rather than on their transactions. This kind of marketing emphasizes on costumers satisfaction in order to increase profit. Guerrilla marketing strategy promotes products in an unconventional way in order to make profit with minimum budget. For example, placing products in unexpected but visible locations. Positioning market method relies on the process by which the marketers  will create a product in the mind of their target audience in order to make profit. In my product I incorporated the viral marketing strategy, which will rely on people to promote it by telling their friend or by email.

My application is a Director Projector and it runs on Mac and PC.

People would visit my application in order to have more knowledge about the history, attractions, activities and events of the Brecon Beacons National Park. People would also view it to see when different activities and events will be held as the application has external links to the Brecon Beacons official website where the visitor can find this information.

Layout of the home page incorporates a green map, which introduces to the visitor the Brecon Beacons National Park. The other things that symbolize the park are the leaves’ buttons; the branch; and the video that reveals the charming beauty of the park. I just try to attract the visitors, using these assets, which represent the park. In my opinion, the video asset is very effective because it makes the user to visit the park. My application is a documentary as it documents reality of the park.

The smaller the size of the application, the smoother it will run on Mac or PC. Considering this, I compressed the video into MPEG-4 format and cut some bits of it in order to it smaller. A CD has size limitations, which makes me consider about the size of the Director Projector’s assets, which contributes to its size. The end user will only can interact with the application using a mouse as I am going to distribute it on a CD, which runs on computers not touchscreen devices such as iPad and Smartphone. My interactive product requires QuickTime player in order to view the video incorporated in it.

The end user does not need any special software to run the Director Projector as it a self-running file (.exe file on PC and application on the Mac), which contains enough code to run a project. In my project I used jpg and png formats for images and graphics created and edited in Photoshop. The video incorporated in my application is compressed to MPEG-4 format with resolution 1024x576 pixels.

If I had to promote my product, I could do it over the Internet and use a franchising practice in order to use someone else successful business. I could promote it as a banner incorporated in the Brecon Beacons official website. In my opinion, they would be interested in my product because my application promotes their park. I would take the money for investment in my business from a venture capitalist. I would distribute the application on a CD ROM. A producer would be in charge with distributing the product to different companies such as Tesco and Asda as wel as managing the money for all involved services. I would be the publisher and designer of the product.
